Fast route

Quick Guide

Take the optional Route 103 branch west from Route 110 to find Mio.
Defeat Eon Guardian Mio or return later if your team is not ready.
Return to Route 110 and follow the main path north toward Mauville.
Prepare for the rival encounter on the main Route 110 path.
Enter Mauville City, heal and approach the Gym.
Defeat Wally outside the Gym, then enter and solve the electric switches.
Defeat Wattson to receive the Dynamo Badge and TM34.
Collect HM06 in Mauville and use the unlocked Pokemon Center rematches if desired.
Stop at the Early Access roadblock. No later story route is currently published.

Optional Route 103 Branch and Eon Guardian Mio

From the lower Route 110 path near the Trick House, take the western branch onto the eastern side of Route 103. This is the side of the route that could not be reached from Oldale during Part 1. Follow the land beside the water until you find the purple-clad trainer near the shoreline.

She comments on your potential before identifying herself as Eon Guardian Mio. This new boss waits west of the Trick House, away from the normal route toward Mauville.

Mio carries four Pokemon and sends out a level 36 Blaziken. Bring several trained Pokemon rather than building the whole plan around one Water-type answer.

Route 110 to Mauville City

Return east from Mio’s branch to the lower Route 110 path. Continue north between the waterways and under Cycling Road. Heal before the narrow section because May or Brendan blocks the path and begins the next required rival battle.

The rival’s team depends on your starter. Keep an answer to the opposing starter healthy and avoid entering with damage left from Mio or the route trainers.

After the battle, the rival gives you the Itemfinder. Continue north past the remaining trainers and route interactions until the path opens into Mauville City.

First Steps in Mauville City

Mauville’s entrance places several houses and the Pokemon Center close to the main path. Heal first, then explore before approaching the Gym. Some exits are blocked in the current Early Access build, so the badge challenge is the required progression here.

The orange-roofed Gym is easy to recognize in the eastern part of the accessible city. Wally and his uncle are standing outside, which prevents you from walking straight into Wattson’s puzzle.

Wally’s Challenge

Walk toward Wally and his uncle to start the scene. Wally believes he is ready for the Gym and challenges you to prove his progress. Accepting the battle is required before the doorway becomes available.

Wally sends out Ralts. Defeat him, then let the conversation with his uncle finish. Scott also comments on the battle before the entrance clears.

Mauville Gym and Wattson

Inside the Gym, floor switches change which electric barriers are active. Step on a switch, check the newly opened side and move through before using the next one. The puzzle is a connected route rather than a search for hidden controls; if a barrier blocks the path, return to the most recent switch and try its other state.

Wattson waits in the blue-lit room at the back. Ground-type attacks are the best general answer to Electric Pokemon. Water- and Flying-type team members are risky unless their secondary typing or moves give them a safe role.

Wattson uses Voltorb and Manectric during the fight. Heal between dangerous turns and protect the Pokemon carrying your Ground coverage.

Mauville Items and Trainer Rematches

Before stopping, visit the house southeast of the Pokemon Center and speak to the man inside to receive HM06 Rock Smash. Gamma Emerald adds HM functions to the Personal Device, so the field action does not need to occupy a party Pokemon’s move slot.

With the Stone, Knuckle and Dynamo Badges collected, trainer rematches become available from the second floor of Pokemon Centers. Speak to the attendant there to repeat available battles and continue training after the story endpoint.

Current Early Access Endpoint

After Wattson, the roadblock NPC congratulates you for reaching Mauville and then states that the path is blocked until further notice. The official Early Access description independently defines the available journey as Littleroot to Mauville with the Stone, Knuckle and Dynamo Badges.

There is no fourth Gym or Surf progression to follow in this build. Collect any missed Mauville items, use Pokemon Center rematches, finish the Trick House or return to Mio if she was skipped. Save in Mauville and wait for a future game update before following later Emerald routes.
